I'm testing new filters and updates on the default layout.
If it works I'll try to get it to work with the old template

Template restored...phew.
Visual confirmation (or CAPTCHA) added to registration which should filter some of the spambots out. More advanced bots can still get through though 
I'll see how much of a difference it makes then may upgrade further.

2 hours but hopefully worth it. There is now an Authorisation Code required as well as CAPTCHA so 99% of all known spam bots are toast 
Human spammers are just wasting their time as they get deleted straight away anyway.
All tested and working fine as far as I can tell
